Nusser, Ms. E.

Welcome to First Grade

About Me:

I am thrilled to say this is my 14th year teaching at Gillette School!  I earned my Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education at Fairleigh Dickinson University.  I was hired to teach kindergarten, and did so for five years.  I was then offered a position in first grade, which was very exciting for me!  First grade is going to be a wonderful time for you and your child.  I look forward to watching your child grow and mature throughout their first grade experience!

Special Schedule:

Monday: Art
Tuesday: P.E.
Wednesday: Library
Thursday: Music
Friday: P.E.

Homework:

The purpose of homework is to reinforce a skill that has been taught in the classroom, as well as teach my students responsibility.  Homework is assigned Monday - Thursday and is due back the next day.  On a typical night your child will be assigned one math page and one spelling/writing page.  Spelling words and sight words should be practiced daily.

The Superkids Reading Program provides a variety of fun online reading activities that reinforce skills being taught in the classroom.
