Homework Policy

Homework Policy

Dear Parents,

As a parent of an elementary school student, it is important for you to know that homework REALLY does make a difference in your child’s performance in school. Research states that the time spent doing homework directly affects a child’s achievement. This is valuable information. It tells us that by doing assigned homework, your child will increase skills and perform better in school.

Some important points to remember are:

Homework teaches children responsibility.

Students who consistently do homework will perform better academically than those students who don’t do homework.

Homework improves academic achievement in all grade levels and all ability levels.

When you assist your child with homework, you are helping him/her improve academically. You are giving your child a daily opportunity to be more successful.

With these thoughts in mind, I have developed the following policies concerning homework.

It is my intention to use homework as a reinforcement tool. All skills needed for homework activities have been introduced / taught in the classroom.

All assignments are expected to be completed and turned in/checked off on time. Students must use a pencil. All work must legible or will have to be redone.
